GJS installs Australia's first ROQ E electric screen printing machine

SYDNEY, Australia - July 9, 2024

GJS today announced it has installed Australia's first ROQ E electric screen printing machine with Melbourne-based custom apparel printers, Colour Cartel who had previously relied on manual screen printing for its primary screen print production.

Founded by Daniel Rim in 2019, Colour Cartel grew from humble beginnings. Today, it serves businesses both large and small with a modern approach to personalised apparel and workwear, decals and signage, graphic design, and more.

“We identified the need for a ROQ E as the demand for extra volume capabilities arose. We were on the search for a compact and capable automatic screen-printing press that could improve our hourly output and the ROQ E proved the best solution on the market. Additionally, the support from GJS and ROQ made this decision a no brainer,” said Rim.

Colour Cartel will utilise the capabilities of the ROQ E, specifically the increased production speeds of up to 900 garments per hour to uphold its commitment to delivering high-quality apparel with quick turnaround times to its customers.

“The ROQ E will also allow us to immensely improve our product offerings with the capability of now being able to offer simulated process printing without a huge increase in labour,” Rim added.

The ROQ E represents a significant advancement in technology, being the world’s first self-contained automatic screen-printing press that does not require an external air supply or compressor, only needing an electric connection to operate.

This not only helps streamline the printing process, but it also decreases its production footprint via the need for third-party air compressors.

“The added bonus of the compressor being built in means an additional expenditure saving and a much tidier workspace,” Rim concluded.

The ROQ E is available in two different configurations, one with eight stations and one with ten stations, printing in a maximum of six or eight colours, and thanks to the use of slim style pallet arms, it makes printing on sleeves much more accessible.

“Since GJS announced that it had been appointed as ROQ’s exclusive distributor in Australia and New Zealand in October 2023, we have been blown away by the interest in the ROQ products, the ROQ brand, and the early adoption of ROQ's innovative screen printing technology by forward-thinking businesses such as Colour Cartel,” said Greg Stone, managing director, GJS.

“It’s our goal to change the Australian screen printing landscape by providing access to ROQ’s full range of high-production, automated and automatic printing, drying, pressing and packaging products, backed by GJS’ 45 plus years’ of industry experience, and national support network.

“To now have multiple ROQ install sites around Australia, with more to be announced in the coming months is a true testament to the maturity of the Australian screen printing market and a competitive edge to creative, high-production, customer-centric businesses around the country such as Colour Cartel," Stone added.

The ROQ E and the full range of ROQ products are available Australia-wide exclusively via GJS.
